| Hans Hansen was the first common ancester of the Bergen family of Long Island, New York. He was a native of Bergen Norway. As a ships carpender he went to Holland and from there to New Amsterdam in 1623. He arrived at Fort Amsterdam in April with Wouter Vantivetter, the second Director General on a ship called "Salt Mountain". |
