The Captain Jacks trails, or at least the ones I road where a disappointment. They had been chewed up by motorcycle traffic and where most gravel and loose rock. That made it very difficult to climb or to come down for that matter. The only saving grace was that the views were spectacular.

The rock formation at the trailhead was interesting.

The trail itself started out as a dirt road and then followed a stream up the mountain. It started out almost rideable in spots.

Some parts of the trail were rideable but rough.

Others were not. This uphill climb in deep gravel is an example.

The views were great. Just what you would expect from 9000 feet or so in the mountains.

There were some rare sections of the trails that were nice to ride.
