Slick Rock trail is one of the more well known trails in Moab. The trail surface is what makes it special. It is like riding on pavement except that the pavement is not level. Maybe a skateboard park would be a better comparison. The ride is great. Some sections are unrideable except by the riders much more advanced than I am most sections were rideable with the 34/18 gears I was using. It gives you a real sense of accomplishment to be able to ride some of the sections that are right on the edge. With the excellent traction many rises that would not be possible on plain dirt are rideable with enough muscle and strain. Other places are fast and flowing.

The trail starts in a well maintained parking lot and heads out into the rocks.

The trail rolls from one mound to another, sometimes with steep drop offs or climbs creating challenges going up and coming down.
There were lots of great views from the high points of the trail. Part of the trail looked out over the Colorado river.

Lynne is heading down some rounded rollers, picking a course to avoid drop off hazards.

Here I am cranking up one of the climbs taking advantage of the excellent traction.
