After deciding that I liked the sport I bought a Specialized Stump Jumper and proceeded to beat it up for almost a year. I rode through the winter and completely wore out the small chain ring. That cause extreme chain suck problems. That prompted the search for alternatives, like the Rohloff hub. After replacing the little chain ring the chain suck problem went away except for real muddy rides. All in all it was a nice light bike that worked well. I almost hated to give it up, but ...
